The Speed® Square is known for its extreme durability and visibility, thanks to a heavy-gauge aluminum alloy that is 15 times stronger than standard aluminum construction, plus a matte finish that won't blind you in the sunlight. It is the original five-tools-in-one layout square Albert Swanson invented in 1925: try square, miter square, saw guide, line scriber, and protractor in one heavy-gauge aluminum die-casting. Swanson invented the One-Number® Method to mark common, hip, and valley rafters off a single pitch number, and the Diamond™ cutout turns a stud-width seat cut into one motion. You know you're using a Speed® Square when you see the Diamond™ cutout. The line covers the 7 in. flagship (S0101), the 12 in. Big 12® (S0107) with the Layout Bar for repeat rafter and stair cuts, and the 4½ in. Trim Speed® Square (S0145) with 22½°, 30°, 45°, and 67½° angle marks for moulding work.
